education and Academics

"A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel." Proverbs 1:5

Education is one of four core components of our residential program at Hope Harbor, with residents attending Hope Academy (Marshall) and Anchor Academy (Winona) on site.  Our teachers manage each resident's individual school plan with curriculum in varying grades, skill levels, and courses.  Residents are able to catch up, stay on track, and even move ahead academically.

Teens reach their full potential and realize their ability where they haven’t before. Each day is filled with challenges, second chances, and victories as we keep the classroom lighthearted and focused.

Daily success in school builds up our teens as ability, responsibility, and capability come together.

We know God will use this for His Kingdom work!

School is in session from 8am-3pm Monday through Friday, year round.  Residents in their senior year can graduate from Hope Academy and Anchor Academy to launch into their adult lives through college or work.

In addition to curriculum, the school day may include special classes, counseling and spiritual growth sessions, group projects, field trips, and movie days.  Tutors are available to give extra attention and help where needed.  Residents earn Merit Money through their achievements, redeemable at Merit Store for school supplies, treats, outings, and more.

Initial assessments and school transcripts provide structure to develop an individual school plan in the A.C.E. Curriculum (more here).  The A.C.E. program is biblically based and individually assigned with studies in Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and Literature.  Students complete 12 packets with 80% accuracy to earn one credit.  Students also earn a PE and FACS credit through daily recreation and activities.
