counseling

"Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out." Proverbs 20:5

Counseling is one of four core components of our residential program at Hope Harbor. Residents participate weekly in individual and group counseling, with family counseling introduced later. All parents/guardians of residents participate in bi-weekly individual/couples counseling and weekly Parenting Class (details here).

Hope Harbor's counselor is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, with a LMFT in Marriage and Family Therapy.  All counseling sessions are biblical, Christ-centered, and Holy Spirit led, allowing for healing through the one true Healer.

As a voluntary program, Hope Harbor gives residents the tools to participate in their healing journey when they are ready. We ask for three things from our residents and parents as we walk alongside them toward healing:

  • Sincerity: The healing process will move at the same speed as your level of sincerity. As you learn to be real, you will find that we can better help you.
  • Honesty: Being truthful about your past and your present is critical to your program. You will learn to be honest, even when you make mistakes, for the greater purpose of healing.
  • Commitment: Your decision to submit to the authority in your life will result in a faster and more effective program. God has a special plan for you!
